The easement would permanently restrict future development to no more than two residential lots, require that all stormwater from development be infiltrated prior to reaching the lake, and require maintenance of a 100-foot forested vegetative buffer to protect the lake's water quality and natural scenic beauty. The owners of the property have offered to donate the remaining value of the easement (est. $575,000). No public access is provided via the easement other than one educational tour per year. Hunting allowed by owners permission.

Chippewa County: Acq-Bass Lakes/Tram Lake Acquisition-Galgano Property: Chippewa County will acquire 220 acres with frontage on Bass Lakes #1 and #2 and Tram Lake to protect the lake from residential development.

Beaver Dam Lake Management District: Hlk-Beaver Dam Lake Fish Stick Project: Partnering with property owners, the applicant is sponsoring a grant to implement water quality and habitat best practices from Wisconsin\2019s Healthy Lakes Implementation Plan. Best practices, including fish sticks, 350 sq. ft. native plantings, diversions, rock infiltration, and/or rain gardens, will be designed and installed according to the Healthy Lakes fact sheets, technical guidance and grant application.

Dunn County: Lco-Shoreland Ordinance Rev.: Dunn County proposes to amend or create a shoreland zoning ordinance that complies with the requirements of NR 115, Wisconsin Administrative Code (as revised effective February 1, 2010) and retain existing regulations that exceed the water resource protections of NR 115 or are specific or unique to local needs.

Project involved bargain sale and up-front funding from Chippewa County's Stewardship fund -- funding that will be reimbursed with $50K of the grant award. The property includes 700 ft. of shoreline, and will be maintained for resource protection, lakeshore preservation, environmental education and scientific study.

Town Of Hallie: Acq-Town Of Hallie Acquistion On Lake Hallie: The Town of Hallie proposes to purchase approximately 22 acres of land on the north end of Lake Hallie. The parcel is currently owned by American Materials Corporation, and is threatened with development. The parcel is an environmentally sensitive area, a major feature of the land is a wetland spring area. This area is a major cold-water source for the lake and provides a unique riparian buffer for several hundred feet of shoreline. The area also provides an extensive area of riparian wildlife habitat.

West Wisconsin Land Trust: Acq-Larrabee (Munger) Easement: West Wisconsin Land Trust requests $200,000 to purchase a conservation easement on a 24-acre parcel owned by the Munger family on Larrabee Lake in Chippewa County.

City Of Cumberland: Acq-Library Lake - Neurer Acquisition: The City of Cumberland is sponsoring a land acquisition project to acquire a permanent limited easement on the Richard and Lorrain Neurer property.

This acquisition project is part of a mulit phase stormwater management project within the City. The Neurer easement is for the purpose of installing a stormwater best management practice on the eased property.

Special conditions for this project: the draft permanent limited easement must be reviewed by the Department prior to signing.

Ownership of the property will be transfered to the City of Cumberland.

The project includes the following objectives ( ) and activities [ ]; (1) Determination of the source(s) of pollutants that have caused recent reductions of water quality - [watershed assessment], [shoreline assessment], [complete water quality study], [develop hydrologic budget], [develop phosphorus budget], [develop groundwater model], [lake sediment core assessment], [shoreline septic systems assessment], [lake bacterial water quality assessment], and [an assessment of the feasibility of a water level control device], (2) Prediction of probable water quality responses to possible pollution reduction practices - [assessment of lake water quality responses utilizing acceptable computer "models"], (3) Protection of Silver Lake from invasive exotic aquatic species - [conduct aquatic plant survey to detect any exotic species], [recommend measures to prevent future exotic species infestations], (4) Evaluation of the fishery of Silver Lake - [Wis. Project tasks: 1) Design/stabilization on approximately 10 shoreline sites; 2) Shoreline restoration design technical assistance; 3) Design/installation on approximately 6 runoff reduction sites; 4) Install woody habitat improvement (Fish Sticks) on approximately 4 sites; 5) Design/implement wetland restoration; 6) Landscaper training/education.

Shoreline restorations using grant funding for plants or labor require a Department approved restrictive covenant to permanently establish the parcel vegetative buffer. Restorations will follow NR 191.24(3) standards unless mutually agreed to in writing with the DNR lake coordinator before implementation. West Wisconsin Land Trust: Acq-Herde Iii, Triple Lakes Easements: WWLT is seeking $200,000 in Lake Protection funding to contribute to the cost of two conservation easements: one secured on a 30-acre parcel on Herde Lake, and the other on a 740-acre parcel that includes frontage on, or entirely encompasses, 14 lakes including the Triple Lakes, and Henneman, Logger, Chick, Calkins North and Taylor lakes in Chippewa County. The Herde Lake easement allows no development on the property (which had been subdivided to accommodate 11 condominium lots) and requires maintenance of a 100 ft. forested vegetative shoreline buffer strip to protect the lake's water quality and natural scenic beauty. The Triple Lakes easement extinguishes a condominium plat approval allowing for development of up to 181 lakefront lots allowing, instead, development of 13 residential lots and requiring maintenance of 75' (min.) vegetative buffer strips on all lake shorelines.

Dunn County: Tainter Lake Nutrient Loading & Phosphorus Reduction Study: 1) Determine nutrient loading to Tainter Lake from each of two contributing watersheds; the South Fork Hay River Watershed, and the Pine Creek and Red Cedar River Watershed. Project will involve remote sensing using aerial photography and analysisthrough a computerized Geographic Information System (GIS). Animal unit concentrations and their locations will be used as an index. Relative phosphorus loads will be projected by watershed. Two representative subwatersheds will undergo a more detailedland use analysis. 2) Determine landowner willingness to volintarily cooperate in phosphorus reduction by a random mailing of questionaires in both watersheds. The watershed selected for a concentrated effort at phosphorus reduction will have aquestionnaire sent to every landowner. 3) Final report will be prepared to include; - which watershed is the greater contributor of phosphorus to Tainter Lake, -whether landowners are willing to voluntarily cooperate with cleanup, - an array of resoucemaps, (topographic, solis, land use, etc.). Data reporting format to be worked out in consultation with Buzz Sorge, DNR district contact. Project results will be reposited at the Dunn County Land Conservation Dept. and the DNR District Office. Tainter/Menomin Lake Improvement Association: Lake Tainter Sociological Survey & Educationl Strategies Dev: Establish baseline survey data on Landowner's knowledge of water quality, horticulture practices, construction site erosion and septic systems. Educate lakeshore owners on shoreline zoning, lake and water ecology, good horticulture practices, how septicsystems work, and the importance of household water testing and the interpretation of those results. Conduct 100 household water testing samples and interpret the results showing what action can be taken to improve drinking water quality.Conduct workshops for local officials, contractors dealing with water issues. Design educational exhibits relating water quality to be used in the Lake Tainter area.Disseminate information to the public by neewsletter mailings, fact sheet distributions, public meetings, summary report mailings, newpaper articles, poster displays, and lake fair and county fair exhibits.

Town Of Tainter: Twn. Of Tainter Land Use Plan #1, Dunn Co.: Town of Tainter, Dunn County, proposes to develop a comprehensive land use plan to address land use and water quality issues. Project activities would include 1) Inventory of existing land uses, 2) Inventory of physical and biological characteristics, 3) Demographic analysis of town population, 4) Inventory of existing land and resource protection programs. Information regarding the plan and its development will be shared with the general public through a series of public meetings, newspaper articles and distribution of a comprehensive management plan. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report.

City Of Menomonie: Tainter Lake Planning Project - Phase 2: The City Menomonie will conduct water quality monitoring at three sample sites per location and sampling frequency described in the project study design and a sociological survey will be completed for all riparian property owners. Project deliverables will be to provide WDNR with all data collected and data summaries in both electronic and hardcopy. The results of the sociological survey will also be compiled and presented in a summary report.

Tainter/Menomin Lake Improvement Association: Tainter Mapping-Sedimentation Study: The Tainter/Menomin Lake Improvement Association, in cooperation with the Dunn County Land Conservation Dept. and the UW-Eau Claire Geography Dept., proposes to study to causes and effects of sedimentation on the upper end of Tainter Lake.

Major project elements to include: 1) Streambank erosion inventory, 2) stabalization priority determination, 3) cropland soil loss analysis, 4) lake mapping, 5) dredging analysis, 6) public visioning meeting.

Dunn County: Dunn Shoreland Zone Implementation: Dunn County proposes to inventory riparian property ownership, compliance with county buffer standards, and sites providing public access to Lake Eau Galle, Lake Tainter, the Red Cedar River and unincorporated areas on Lake Menomin. Major project elements to include: a) Inventory of shoreline properties and water access points, and b) education and outreach.

Tainter/Menomin Lake Improvement Association: Dunn Co. Erosion Plan: The Tainter-Menomin Lake Improvement Assocaition proposes to contract with Inter-fluve, Inc.to develop plans for remediation of river bank erosion and habitat improvement along the Red Cedar River in Dunn County. Major project elements to include: a) analysis of existing data, b) partnership team meetings, c) surveying and waterway access mapping, d) erosion control design, e) cost estimates, and f) implementation plan.

Project activities include: 1) Photos taken of the site, 2) Consultant and landowner meet to outline the design and process for implementation, 3) Continue with PR via local news, 4) Plantings completed under direction of consultant, 5) Guests invited to observe demonstration site by boat, and 6) Continued oversight of vegetative process by landowner.

The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper and electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public through local newspapers, presentations, and tours of the demonstration site.
